Crafted in 18k Yellow Gold, this customizable Garnet Engravable Miniature Medallion features a hand-engraved initial or other letter(s) at the center topped with three garnets—the birthstone for those born in January. The word “garnet” comes from the 14th century Middle English word gernet, meaning “dark red,” which is in turn derived from Latin granatum, meaning “seed,” referring to the gemstone’s resemblance to red pomegranate seeds. Egyptian pharaohs wore red garnet necklaces thousands of years ago, and in ancient Rome, carved garnet signet rings stamped the wax seals of important documents.
